It’s 2016, and still no Primatene Mist Inhaler alternative on the market. It’s a struggle for asthma sufferers like me to find over the counter inhalers for my asthma that will work.
But I’ve found alternatives, mainly Prime Asthma Relief, waiting for their Mist version to come out. Asthmanefrin seems to be disappearing too.
I’ve been waiting for Primatene Mist for almost 4 years, and nothing seems to be happening. Nothing.
Primatene Mist, and then Asthmanefrin seem to have dropped from the market.
At the end of 2011 the only OTC asthma inhaler, Primatene Mist (epinephrine), was yanked from the market unceremoniously. Bye Bye. Did any of the legislators ask what I’m supposed to do to breathe?
Primatene Mist is gone, and the delay in it’s return is not helping my asthma.
So what are we supposed to do now, and is it ever coming back?
What do I do if I can’t buy Primatene Mist Now?
Well, I’ve been using Asthmanefrin and Prime Asthma Relief, and found both to work well, but I’m really struggling to find refills for Asthmanefrin. So increasingly I’m using Prime Asthma Relief Inhalers.
Primatene Mist was my go-to inhaler for asthma, and the only thing I could walk into a pharmacy and get OTC. I never realized how much of a luxury that was until I lost it. Now I fear an asthma attack, when I used to be ready for one.
Bad Joke, but if you are waiting for Primatene Mist to come back, don’t hold your breath. LOL.
Many former users of Primatene have switched to prescription inhalers, which contain the albuteral, and which are made with no CFC’s. But not all of us can afford prescription inhalers to replace our primatene mist, so we have to find whatever is available over the counter, and that offering has dwindled to Asthmanefrin and Prime Asthma Relief.
Prime Asthma Relief has some videos, here’s one.
Asthmanefrin has their various contrapitons and nebulizers, but it’s hard to find the refills. So I gave up trying. I can order Prime Asthma Relief and I get it in a few days.
Prime Asthma Relief is my alternative to Primatene Mist, and I get it online. They are supposed to come out with a mist version soon. I have gotten used to the simplicity of the dry powder inhaler, and it works.
Primatene Mist might come back, but in the mean time the only alternative for 2016 is Prime Asthma Relief with Asthmanefrin gone too. But at least I can breathe in 2016.
